Nash Simpson is the victim in "Hoodrats". He aspired to be a pro skateboarder. Nash was from New Jersey but came to Philadelphia to escape his terrible home life. He was going to have his little brother, Mick Simpson, live with him once he was settled.

Nash befriended Cal Acevedo, who was working on his own skateboard trick. One day, Cal was caught shoplifting from Steve Hess but Nash paid for it. He was allowed to stay with Steve and do odd jobs to earn his keep but Cal was not. Nash also struck up a relationship with Vonda Martin. She told him to get sponsored so he recorded himself doing tricks with her video camera. Nash was signed by Excelarator (which was also sponsoring his rival, Grady Giles). He started earning money and even sent a skateboard back home for his brother Mick.

Steve was mad that Nash let someone else be his sponsor instead of him and kicked Nash out of his store. Nash went back to a frustrated and strung out Cal failing to nail a trick he invented. To encourage him, Nash hit the trick perfectly but was bludgeoned by Cal with a skateboard in response, as Cal was addicted to drugs and resentful that Nash was leaving him behind. He sold the videotape of Nash hitting the trick to Grady, who became famous for hitting it.

In 2009, Mick traveled to Philadelphia after finally finding the skateboard that his brother sent him, which their neglectful mother had forgotten to give to him. The cold case team searched for John Does from 1995 and found Nash. After the case was solved, Mick imagined seeing Nash at the skate park where he used to hang out.
