Mort Ackerson is a minor character from "Breaking News". He is the anchor of WCNU-7, with Jane Everett as his co-anchor in 1988. They did not get along and Mort even tried to get her fired. Mort was considered a has-been but his coverage of Jane's murder saved his career.
When Jane's case was reopened, he told the Cold Case team about her solo investigation into Shaw Plastics.
