Miriam Gunden is the mother of Anna Gunden and Sarah Gunden.
When Miriam was 16 and in the "Rumspringa" stage, she had wanted to go to Philadelphia too, but she was afraid to do so and stayed behind in her home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where she would still be living and now raising a family of her own. Her eldest daughter Anna had done Rumspringa against her mother's wishes but suddenly disappeared in 2006, leading the detectives to solve her case a year later.
After the murder case was solved, Miriam and her family attend Anna's funeral when her body is brought back for proper burial.
