Kelly Baxter is the mother of murder victim Rita Baxter in "The Sleepover".
In 1990, Kelly was a single mother to Rita while working as an art teacher at a community college. One day, when Kelly dropped Rita off at school, Rita would become worried of getting picked on by Brandi Beaudry and Tiffany O'Connell. Kelly reassured her daughter that everyone who has ever been important in life was a loser, and that Brandi and Tiffany were just foolish for not wanting to hang out with Rita. On the night of Rita's death, Kelly was asleep while her daughter snuck out to go to a secret sleepover hosted by Brandi.
In 2004, when Rita's murder case was reopened, Detectives Vera and Jeffries went to see Kelly. Kelly told them she didn't know Neil Beaudry but she knows about his parents. Kelly also informed that she was well aware of Rita's bullying. Kelly was interviewed the second time by the detectives; this time, about her affair with Tiffany's father. While admitting it to the detectives, Kelly herself didn't know Tiffany already knew and that she had ended the affair after Rita died. Kelly also tells them about what happened to Tiffany as she got expelled in 8th grade due to her drinking problem.
After Rita's murder was solved, Kelly finally received closure from Detective Rush.
