Daryl Booker is a close friend and father figure of Kara Dhiet in "Who's Your Daddy?". In 1991, Booker discovered Sen and Channary Dhiet's bodies at their apartment.

History[]

During the Vietnam War, Booker was charged for allegedly massacring locals execution style and dishonorably discharged for psychiatric reasons.

In 2004, Booker joined teenage Kara to request the detectives to reopen her parents' case when she discovered her mother's bracelet, which had been stolen on the night of the murder, being sold on eBay. Detective Lilly Rush would become suspicious towards Booker and refused to trust his relationship with Kara.

Booker was questioned by Detectives Lilly and Scotty Valens about Channary's bracelet, which was very valuable. Booker claimed that he did not know about the Dhiets as he was serving his time in prison for illegal drug possession. Lilly asked how Booker made the 911 call. Booker explained that when he came across Kara in the streets, he found the young girl covered with blood from her hands and t-shirt. He agreed to help Kara where he found her parents lying dead before he called 911. Following Kara's parents' deaths, Booker started taking care of Kara when her aunt and uncle worked long hours at the restaurant.

Lilly then went to the restaurant to talk with Kara. Booker was present and did not want Lilly upset Kara. When Lilly revealed Kara's mother came from Cambodian royalty, Kara became upset as she realized that she may have caused her parents' deaths after she took the bracelet for a show and tell at her school.

Later, Booker confronted Lilly as he was angry with her for upsetting Kara. Lilly wanted to know about what Booker was really doing that night when Kara's parents were murdered. Booker told Lilly that Kara was unaware of his past life as a drug addict and explained that Kara needed a father-figure to look up to. He accused her for having personal issues with men. Lilly knew that Booker is hiding something and planned to find out what it is.

Lilly interrogated Booker when she found out that he lied about knowing Channary and accused him of wanting Channary. She told him that she knew that he was on the corner that night buying drugs for Channary. Booker claimed that Channary was in pain and he helped her with opium, but he revealed that his drug dealer was late that night when Channary and her husband were killed. He revealed that he didn't tell Lilly because he didn't want Kara to know that her mother was having a drug addiction. He also admitted he was in love with Channary as they both shared a desire to forget the past. He urged Lilly not to tell Kara about it.

Kara came to the station when she found out Booker was being questioned. Lilly reassured Kara that they made a mistake and they’re letting Booker ago. Kara told Lilly that they should arrest Atwater, her father's boss. Booker wanted to know if Atwater was responsible for killing Kara's parents, and Lilly responded that they're looking into it. Afterwards, Lilly became guilty for her judgement against Booker.

Booker then confronted Atwater at his home and held him and his wife at gunpoint. Lilly and Lieutenant Stillman arrived at the scene in time. Booker revealed to Lilly that Atwater killed Channary and her husband. He figured that Atwater liked women licking his boots when Kara explained how Atwater made her aunt lick his boots and that Channary had dirt on her face.

As Booker refused to put the gun down, Lilly calmly reminded him that Kara needed a father figure and suggested that she could pin Atwater to the murders. Convinced, Booker put the gun down and allowed the detectives confront Atwater. In the end, Lilly escorted Booker out of the house as Atwater was arrested. When Lilly returned Channary's bracelet to Kara, she watched Kara run outside and happily embrace Booker while "seeing" Kara's parents.
