Cordell Baker is a minor character from "Wednesday's Women". He was helping Miriam Forrester with her mission of teaching at freedom schools in Hazelton, Mississippi.
After Cordell's school was firebombed, he misdirected his blame towards Miriam. When her school was also firebombed, Miriam earned his respect when she saved the children.
Cordell is a college professor in 2008. In the end, he visits the old freedom school which has become a community center.
