Ariel Shuman was a 12-year-old middle school student who was a friend to Tiffany O'Connell and Brandi Beaudry, and a former friend of Rita Baxter. She killed Rita by accident by pushing her off a ravine after a sleepover at Brandi's house went wrong. Brandi kicked Ariel out of her house and told her they couldn't be friends anymore, prompting Ariel to lash out at who she deemed responsible.
In adulthood, Ariel became a physician. Brandi discovered what she had done to Rita and, knowing Ariel had access to drugs in her job, blackmailed her for a while into getting morphine to feed her addiction.
